Georgia residence permits: choose a legal basis, not a label
A route selector for work, family, study, property, investment and IT cases.
Check your case. Rules can depend on citizenship, status, activity and effective date. Verify changeable facts with an official source.
How to choose
- Match your evidence to a statutory basis: employment/business, study, family, property, investment, former citizenship, IT or another defined category.
- The State Services Development Agency says most applicants should apply at least 40 calendar days before lawful stay expires; exceptions exist, so check the current page for your route.
- Documents may need Georgian translation, legalisation or apostille. The exact list and fees vary by route and processing speed.
Do not conflate
- Owning a company, registering as an individual entrepreneur or paying tax does not by itself guarantee residence.
- A qualifying foreign visa/residence-based entry route may not support most Georgian residence applications. Verify lawful-stay eligibility before filing.
