Moving to Georgia: a practical 2026 starter guide
A decision-first checklist for international movers, from entry eligibility to the first month.
Check your case. Rules can depend on citizenship, status, activity and effective date. Verify changeable facts with an official source.
Before you book
- Check entry rules for the passport you will actually use; residence in another country can create a different route but is not the same as citizenship.
- Build a personal document pack: passport, civil-status records, education and work evidence, prescriptions, pet records and certified copies where relevant.
- Choose a first base for 2–4 weeks before signing a long lease. Seasonal demand, humidity, heating and commute patterns are hard to judge remotely.
Your first month
- Get a Georgian phone number, learn how address descriptions work, and keep emergency number 112 saved.
- Treat banking, tax registration, work permission and residence as separate questions. One does not automatically grant the others.
- Use the linked guides to verify the route that applies to your nationality, work model and family situation.
